Xanga launched in 1999 and gave teenagers a place to post their feelings. In 2006 the FTC fined it $1 million for violating the children's privacy law, noting that 1.7 million accounts belonged to users under 13. Its premium plan let you upload up to 99 profile pictures, which tells you who the customer was. It launched video blogs in 2007 with a clip of an employee's dog. In 2013 it said it would shut down unless it raised $60,000 by mid-July to build "Xanga 2.0." It failed to reach the goal and, in the record's words, "became an un-navigable page in late 2013." A site full of diaries could not raise the price of a used truck.
