Tidal is still alive, and that is the news. Jay-Z bought its parent for $56.2 million in January 2015 and put 16 famous artists on a stage as "the owners of TIDAL." The pitch was that streaming should pay musicians more, delivered by the best-paid musicians alive. It claimed over 3 million subscribers in 2016. Internal documents put it at 850,000 by March 2016.
