Rdio launched in August 2010 from the founders of Skype. Entertainment Weekly gave it an A and said it had "by far the best app and online interface." Critics loved it. In 2013 it launched Vdio, a video service that lasted under nine months. In 2014 Elon Musk made it the default audio in European Teslas, and it went shopping for two more startups. On November 16, 2015 it filed for bankruptcy and Pandora took the remains for $75 million in cash. Best-designed product in the category is a lovely thing to carve on a tombstone.
