Secret launched in January 2014 so you could post anonymously to your friends. Within two weeks a fake rumor about an Evernote acquisition went around. Investors then gave it $8.6 million when it had three employees, and $25 million more that July. The founders cashed out $3 million each along the way. In August 2014 a Brazilian court ordered Apple, Google and Microsoft to delete the app from phones. In April 2015 the CEO shut it down, saying malicious rumors were not what he had envisioned. He built a rumor machine and did not care for the rumors. He said he would return what was left to investors.
