Google Notebook launched in May 2006 so you could clip bits of the web while you researched. On January 14, 2009, Google announced it was stopping development. Eight days later Evernote launched a tool to import your Google notebooks, which is what a vulture looks like in software. Google then left Notebook running, unimproved, for nearly three years before listing it in what it called its "second spring cleanup." It went dark in July 2012. The notes were exported to Google Docs. In March 2013 Google launched Keep, a new note-taking app. Keep is a bold name from a company that keeps nothing.
