Palm launched webOS in January 2009 as the successor to Palm OS. The first phone shipped that June with 18 apps. HP bought Palm for $1.2 billion in 2010 and released the TouchPad tablet in July 2011. The next month, HP halted all webOS devices. HP then promised to open-source it, and in 2013 sold it to LG to run smart TVs. The software that was supposed to save Palm now asks whether you are still watching. Its hidden developer mode was unlocked by typing the Konami code. It is the only cheat code that ever worked for webOS.
