Microsoft's music player was actually decent hardware. It had WiFi sharing before anyone else. The software subscription model predated Spotify by years. But "actually decent" doesn't beat cultural dominance. The Zune brought a feature comparison spreadsheet to a thermonuclear branding war. The brown one is now a collector's item, which is tech's way of saying "we feel bad for you."
