Sunrise launched on the iPhone in February 2013 and made a calendar people liked looking at, which counted as a breakthrough. It raised $8.2 million. In February 2015 Microsoft bought it for $100 million. Eight months later Microsoft announced it would be discontinued and its team folded into Outlook. The shutdown was set for August 31, 2016, then slipped to September 13. Even its death got rescheduled. A few of its features live on inside Outlook, the way a meal lives on inside whatever ate it.
