Zynga is alive, owned by Take-Two since 2022, and still named after the founder's bulldog. In 2011 it made up 19 percent of Facebook's revenue by teaching your aunt to send you cows. An employee recalled the founder telling him to "copy what [Zynga's competitors] do and do it until you get their numbers." One rival sued over Mafia Wars and settled for between $7 million and $9 million. Zynga went public at $10 a share and closed down 5% on day one. By mid-2013 it had reportedly lost nearly half its users and cut 520 jobs. Take-Two still paid $12.7 billion. Everyone in this story got rich except your aunt.
