Netscape released its first browser on October 13, 1994. Ten months later it went public, the stock hit $75 on day one and the company closed the day worth $2.9 billion. Its share of the browser market was over 90 percent. Then Microsoft bundled Internet Explorer with Windows, and Netscape answered by piling on features faster than it could make them work. Critics called it "featuritis." AOL agreed to buy it in 1998 in a deal worth $10 billion by closing. AOL then did to Netscape what AOL does. The company was disbanded in 2003. By November 2007 its share was 0.6%. Support ended on March 1, 2008. The browser's codename was Mozilla. That part escaped.
