Google Duo

Google announced Duo in 2016, alongside a blog post titled "Saying hello to Allo and Duo." It should have said goodbye and saved everyone the time. Duo made video calls. Its "Knock Knock" feature showed you a live preview of the caller before you picked up, so you could decline with full information. In 2020 Google was reported to be folding it into Meet. In June 2022 Google "reversed course" and announced the two would, in fact, be merged. That August the Duo app was renamed Meet. Google had two video apps, so it combined them into one and kept all of the confusion.
